Cookie policy

Under legal review. This text is published while its legal review is completed. The details still missing will be added after that review, and any change will carry a new version.

This policy explains what this site stores in your browser, what for, for how long and how to change your decision. What we do with the data from the form and with the server's access log is in the Privacy policy.

Who is responsible

The controller is Sondeon. Its identification and how to contact it are set out in the Privacy policy.

What cookies and local storage are

A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser and that the browser sends back on every visit. Local storage is a similar space in the browser itself: the site can read it and write to it, but the browser does not send it to any server on its own. In this policy we treat the two alike and tell you everything the site stores, whichever kind it is.

What this site stores

This site stores two kinds of things: the necessary ones, which are not asked about, and the measurement ones, which are stored only if you accept.

NameTypeWho stores itWhat forHow long it lastsCategory
sondeon.consent.v1Local storageSondeonTo remember your decision about measurement cookies (accept or reject), the date and the version of the text you had in front of you, so that we do not ask you on every pageValid for 24 months from when you decide. After that we ask you again and your new decision replaces it. It stops being valid earlier if the version of the notice or of this policy changes, or if you delete itNecessary
sondeon_visitor_idLocal storageSondeonA random identifier created when you press Accept or Reject. It travels only to our server, together with your decision, so that we can show that you made it. It is not sent to Google and is not used for measurementUntil you delete itNecessary
sondeon.tema.v1Local storageSondeonTo remember whether you chose the light or the dark theme with the button in the header. It is stored only if you press that button, and it does not leave your browserUntil you delete itNecessary (a preference you ask for)

The server of this site does not send any cookie of its own. We do not use advertising or social media cookies. Apart from Google Analytics, the page loads nothing from third parties: no fonts, no videos, no social media content.

Google Analytics and consent mode

If measurement is switched on and you have accepted, the page loads Google Analytics 4, a measurement service from Google, with Google's consent mode. Google's program is requested at the moment you accept and, on the pages you open afterwards, when you make your first gesture on the page or, if you make none, a few seconds after it loads.

Before you decide, and if you reject, the page does not load Google Analytics and sends nothing to Google: not the page you are viewing, not your decision, not the buttons and links you press, not the notice that you have sent the form. Google Analytics neither stores nor reads cookies.

If you accept, Google Analytics stores the cookies in the table and measures your visits with them: the pages you view and your activity on them, such as scrolling down the page, clicks on links that leave this site or starting a form. Only then do we also send Google your acceptance, which buttons and links you press (their identifier, never what you type) and the notice that you have sent the form (not its content). In those requests, as in any internet connection, your IP address reaches Google.

It is never used for advertising: Google's advertising permissions are always denied. We never send Google your name, your email or anything you type.

We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read and improve the site. Google processes the measurement data under the terms of its service and explains in its own privacy policy how it uses information from the sites that use its services. How long Google keeps that data is what is configured in our Google Analytics account. Google is a group based in the United States, so that data may be processed outside the European Economic Area.

On what basis

What is necessary is stored without asking your permission because it is needed to remember your decision and the preference you choose yourself. Loading Google Analytics, its measurement with cookies and the sending of the buttons and links you press are based on your consent, which you can withdraw whenever you want.

The proof of your decision

When you press Accept or Reject we store on our server: your decision by category, whether it is an acceptance, a change or a withdrawal, the language, the version of the notice and that of this policy together with a fingerprint of the text published at that moment, the date and time, your browser user agent, the sondeon_visitor_id identifier, a request identifier and a fingerprint of your IP address computed with a secret key kept by the controller. We do not store your IP address with the decision. The web server does record the full IP of that request, like that of any other, in its access log, and the two share the request identifier, so they can be linked; the Privacy policy explains it.

The retention period of that proof is 730 days.

How to change or withdraw your decision

In the footer of any page, “Cookie settings” opens the notice again. You can also open it from this page. Rejecting costs the same as accepting: the two buttons are alike.

If you reject after having accepted, we record the withdrawal, the page stops sending data to Google, Google Analytics stops using its cookies and we delete them from your browser. On the pages you open afterwards, Google Analytics is no longer loaded.

Your decision is valid for 24 months. After that period it is no longer taken into account and we ask you again; until you answer, the page does not load Google Analytics.

You can delete at any time what this site has stored from your browser settings. If you delete sondeon.consent.v1, we will ask you again. With JavaScript disabled, this site stores nothing in your browser and does not load Google Analytics.

Your rights

You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and complain to the supervisory authority, as the Privacy policy explains.

Changes to this policy

If this policy or the text of the notice changes, its version changes and we ask you again. With every decision we store the version of both texts and a fingerprint of what was published at that moment, so that we can show which text you had in front of you.
